Tech4Teens Reflection

Tech4Teens     Tech4Teens is a free camp that middle school students can attend through zoom. This camp or program's priority is to make sure that students a technologically literate and it helps them learn about different online programs that interest them. Some of the topics covered include video editing, coding, photo editing, podcast, and website building/design.     I have learned a ton from being part of Tech4Teens so far. The first thing I have learned is how to properly run an online class; you need to bring a lot of energy to keep the students engaged. Watching Dr. Mcverry teach has taught me some key things about enthusiasm and making sure the students feel comfortable. In order to be a great teacher, you need to help motivate your student to be great.       I have also learned the importance of sharing your work with the class when appropriate or modeling for the student before having them do it on there own. During Tech4Teens, we do a lot of screen sharing so that the

3 Goals for Field Work

I have 3 main goals for the Field Work this semester.  1. I am excited to learn about the topics that I will be helping the students with. I do not have a lot of knowledge in coding or video editing but I have a huge interest in both.  2. My second goal is to learn how to use Zoom properly in order to teach students. I have never taught students through zoom and I believe it can be extremely beneficial to my future as an elementary teacher.  3. My third goal for the fieldwork this semester is to learn how to be efficient within a smaller time period for my lesson plans especially for a zoom call. I think it is even more important to make sure that you are prepared when you come to online meetings. Having the most amount of time to teach/work with the students is extremely beneficial to everyone involved.

Journal Reflection: What is Good teaching? (EDU 475)

I believe that there are some core ideas about "what is good teaching" and how to be a good teacher. The first way is to make sure that your classroom is a safe environment for all of the students. I believe that it is important to promote open minds that can engage in an intelligent discussion with peers. Good teaching also provides a classroom that is organized and clear; this will reduce the amount of stress that the students will have to endure so they can focus on the actual objective of the classroom. Being flexible and understanding is a great part of good teaching because every student is going to be unique. Being black and white with how you treat students will not be beneficial to you or them. In order to be a good teacher or promote good teaching then you must provide active feedback to your students. What are they doing that is good? What can they improve? How can they do this? What steps should they take? Most importantly good teaching requires the teacher to re
